Donald K. Allen for President

Top of the Week

July 28, 2008

I got a call this morning from Newt Gingrich’s office.  I thought it was going to be a news break for my campaign, but instead it was a solicitation for donations to his “Drill here, drill now” effort to use our own oil resources.  I replied that I am for drilling in ANWR, the North Slope, offshore, and utilizing oil shale resources as well.  Then I asked the caller to please check my campaign website and inform Mr. Gingrich of my candidacy.

This prompts me to reiterate many of my plans to improve America’s overall situation and ensure its strength in the future.  Both the Republican and the Democratic Parties have plans for this country, too, but they will NOT ensure a sound, sovereign future for the USA.

1. I will sign into law the Fair Tax Bill.  This will eliminate personal and corporate income tax and repeal the 16th Amendment, which authorizes Congress to tax our incomes.  The tax will be replaced by a National Sales Tax.

2. Complete a secure, effective fence/wall on our southern border to minimize illegal immigration and maximize patrol and surveillance of the border.  Institute a sound identification program for guest workers.  Repatriate all illegal immigrants who are now serving time in our prison system.

3. Authorize oil drilling on an all-inclusive level as a matter of national security.  Remove any legal barriers to access to oil shale and oil fields.  Build or expand upon refineries.  Authorize government support of alternative energy sources, particularly hydrogen fuel cell, algae oil, and other energy systems being developed.

4. Institute “loser pays” legal reform on a national level.  This will tremendously reduce law suits on our overburdened court system and essentially eliminate frivolous suits against individuals, corporations, and insurance companies.  In time this should lower insurance premiums for everyone.

5. Transfer Social Security funds into a true trust fund system, and prevent access to Social Security funds by Congress.

6. Privatize Foreign Aid.

7. Improve education throughout the Nation with an educator’s congress to examine and resolve today’s problems.  Ensure access for everyone to a college education through an Opportunity Scholarship Program.

8. Authorize controls and limitations of our banking system, including capping interest charges on credit cards, tightening loan and mortgage requirements.

9. Establishing term limits for Congress of 12 cumulative years.  Also requiring random mandatory drug testing of all Federal elected positions, from President on down.

10. Develop a catastrophic care insurance program for all Americans. General health care insurance will become more affordable with 4. and 1. above, lowering costs and putting more money in the pockets and purses of Americans, as well as more retained income for small business and corporations to provide insurance for their employees.

11. Resolve our involvement in Iraq.  That will require cooperation with the Iraqi government and its military leaders and our military leaders to develop a disengagement plan to get us out of Iraq as soon as possible. Timetables are generally not acceptable because many issues can occur to override a timetable. I want our forces to be out of Iraq during my first term, and we need to increase our military forces and shift more to Afghanistan to battle al-Qaeda and Taliban militants.  I would stop all aid to Pakistan as well instead of continuing to reward inaction.

These are the “top eleven” at this time, but there are many more issues that need to be addressed by the new President, and many of these are not being discussed by the two major party leading candidates.  Why not?
